Annual Family Halloween Party

My family really gets into Halloween each year. We have a party each year and costumes are a MUST!

This year Jack is a frog. He is so cute in it and actually does not mind wearing it.

I have to give a big shout out to my husband this year. He was a good sport and did not fight me on this year's costume. We were Little Red Riding Hood and Mr. Lumber Jack.  I was originally going to be Little Red, but I had more that would work to be Mr. LJ...... so..... we switched roles!!! It was hilarious! My husband is a pretty sexy woman! He played the role great and even skipped into the family party! Sadly, he only wore it for about 15 minutes tops.  Poor Jack did not even recognize me in my costume and would not even look at me at first. He would hear my voice, but couldn't find me. By the end of the night, I think he got use to it.

My little brother came up to our house and we all created our costumes together. I really don't know what he ended up being, but it was great! Beyond hideous! The rest of my family had great costumes, but I didn't get any pictures because we were really late.

The last few years, we have started doing a "Fear Factor Eating Contest" at the party. My Mom heads it up and does a great job! We did a kid's round first and put in things like juice for blood, sharp cheese for bones, baby food for vomit, green olives for eye balls, etc etc. Once again, I fall short on the picture.  We hide the food in a to-go type container and have them set out on the table. We say go and everyone digs in and the first 3 to eat everything get a prize.  The adult round was not so easy.... it was brutal! This year we put in vinegar, plain yogurt, a spoonful of horseradish, a hot chili pepper, a brussel sprout, okra, a raw egg (you had to crack it and down it), a little onion, dark dark chocolate, a piece of liver, giblets, sardines, and an oyster. I think I got it all. The contestants have no idea what they are about to eat until they open the box. Most people only touched a few things and bowed out. My husband went for the spoonful of horseradish first, not knowing what it was and instantly spit it out and was done! What luck he would go for that first. He HATES horseradish!  It was so nasty, I could hardly watch. One of my brothers just inhales it down, no problem and another holds his nose and digs in. Towards the end, they had a hard time keeping everything down and afterwards some had to run to the garbage can! The first three to finish everything get a prize! The prizes are pretty good like movie tickets and $$$! It think the top prize was $50! Every year, my brothers dominate, but this year my sister in law got 3rd place though! Yum-Yummy! I will have to get some more pictures from the event from my Mom. Last year, we also used pigs feet and I think we should have added that in.

lil' jack is such a handsome frog! I can't believe how big and cute he has gotten so quickly! And my, what a big beard you have Alyse - you two looked awesome although I just say that I think you both look much better as the gender that God intended for you! but that's why Halloween is so fun, right?

The frog works for Jack, I have to say.......as for you and Mike? I am not so sure. JK! You guys rock for dressing up year after year. Mike and I will next year, we didn't plan ahead enough to pull something clever together. I was seriously laughing reading about your fear factor. I can't believe your mom does that for you. For $50 I think I would eat anything......yeah right there is NO WAY!
