POTTY TRAINING!
It is time! My cousin sent me some guidelines for potty training your kid in about 3-5 days. I have tried a few different things with Jack, but he doesn't latch on for too long. I know he is ready and I know I AM!!! The past 4 months have been insane for us and I finally feel we are settled and adjusting to our new life, so we can now tackle this! Also, it is sooooo hot outside and so it is a good time to do this because if we went outside, we will melt!!!
This method teaches the child to recognize the body's signs for going to the bathroom, instead of being forced to go. You focus on the child, 100% of the day and give them lots to drink. When they show signs of needing to go, you rush them to the bathroom. You focus purely on positive reinforcement, even if they have an accident. You give prizes and little toys here and there for big achievements, but not as a bribe.
That is the method in a nutshell. I explained it terrible, I know, but it is pretty intense. I am referring to it as potty training boot camp! I had to really prepare for it. I went and bought some fun little prizes at the dollar store. He will love them!
Here we go, wish us luck!!!
Sadly, this is where little Jared will probably be a lot during this week!
I had to share these pictures. They are beyond priceless!
He has been doing pretty well, but not a lot of luck going #2. As one of his prizes, I got this dinosaur hat. He LOVES it! One day, while going to the bathroom, he was wearing the hat and started rawr-ing at me! I was laughing so hard! He sure loves dinosaurs!
(Sorry, I didn't have time to edit these pictures!)
He even had to wear his dino hat when we went to get ice cream that night!
