Being away from home has been rough and I am slowly adjusting. Luckily, we have been blessed with wonderful family!
To give a quick background, my Aunt and her family live in Las Vegas. My cousin came home from his mission and my parents were planning on driving down for the homecoming. The weeks before, I kept mentioning that my parent's should just keep on going and come visit us or I would think up scenarios that would make it possible for me to go to the homecoming, like drive myself or ride with my cousin who lives in Phoenix as well. My Mom always said she and my Dad had obligations to get back too (like my Dad leaving for the National Jamboree in Sweden!) and so the wouldn't be able to come down. Mike wouldn't let me drive to Vegas alone with the boys, which I agree with. I just really wanted to see my family.
Well....the Sunday of the homecoming, we got home from church in the afternoon and we walk in the house and within a few minutes, my Mom calls me and then after another couple of minutes, my doorbell rings. I think I have had maybe 5 people come to our door since moving here and so I was surprised. I open the door, remember I am talking to my Mom on the phone, and standing at my door is MY MOM!!! I was shocked!
My Dad and Mom drove down and went to the homecoming and then she got a ride with a family friend (I won't go into details) down to Phoenix. My Dad drove home alone and let my Mom come spend time with me instead of having her home to help him leave the country. That is the way my Dad is, always putting others needs before his own. Thanks Dad!
My Mom stayed for a week and experienced the brutal Phoenix heat. We played, tried new recipes, shopped (Grandma spoiled us), went swimming, went to see Cars 2, and she helped me put our house together more by hanging pictures, shelves, etc.
Jack cried when we dropped her off at the airport.... ok, I did too.
Thanks for visiting Grandma! We love you! Come again soon.
