The whole extended family on my Mom's side went to Lake Powell and sadly, we were unable to go. Mike is beyond thick in his first semester of school and couldn't even think of taking the time away and we decided it was not wise to go with 2 young kids, one being a small baby on my own. Sure, I would have help, but it is a lot of work to go to Lake Powell and we thought it might be more work than fun to go without Mike. The family had a great time, but it was very hot and they had some bad weather and so as much as we wanted to be there, we felt we made the right decision.
The family had a pirate themed week at Lake Powell. I was not born yet, but the last time my Grandpa Roylance went to Lake Powell before he got sick and passed away, they had a pirate themed birthday party and we have some fun old pictures of it. So they decided to carry on the tradition and make it a pirate week. Luckily, we got to have a little taste of the trip. My amazing Mom sent the boys a package of some pirate stuff left over from the trip. My aunt and cousin worked hard to make swords for all of the kids out of PVC and pool noodles. My Mom got one for Jack and sent it with some pirate booty, bandanas, eye patches etc.
Jack was so excited to open the package and dress up as a pirate!
Thanks for thinking of us Grandma and helping us get a taste of the fun we missed.
Jared even got pirate gear! Yar!
Jack and Daddy got into the fun.
The fun went on for the rest of the day and even Nanny was a good sport!
Jack insisted on wearing his pirate gear at dinner! Actually, he has hardly taken it off all day.
The next day, I was doing things around the house and Jared was in his swing and Jack was playing with his pirate stuff. I came into the front room and walked past Jared and had to turn back and do a double take. Jack had put an eye patch on him. I laughed out loud! It was so funny. I don't know how long it was on him until I actually noticed. Silly Jack, silly Jared.
